Unlocking the next generation of black teachers

A year-long apprenticeship program for black youth ages 12-19

Building a Diverse Educator Pipeline: We're increasing representation of Black educators by providing a clear pathway for Black youth interested in education careers. This includes equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, over 130 hours of practical experience in classrooms, and pairing them up with Black educators to be their mentors.

Black students strongly benefit by having even one black teacher

Black students with at least one Black teacher by third grade are 13% more likely to graduate high school and enroll in college. Those with two Black teachers are 32% more likely. Source: John Hopkins University (2018)

“I like working with kids and I can actually see a pathway for me to have some kind of career. I was kind of lost before, and I wasn't all that interested in school. It’s really calming being a teacher, and my grades are better too.”
